Belorado to Villafranca 10/8/15

Pleasant Walk Today....Village to Village
10/8/15
Sorry for delay on this blog from yesterday .... The Wi Fi was weak in Villafranca. It was a great day for the "Grannies on Camino"!
Mary and Mariah
This rock structure was formerly a mountain before extreme erosion .... What was is left of the mountain is a great backdrop for many of the village homes and business's below it
Renovations underway in Belorado... See rock formation as backdrop to the yellow Casa
Recent renovation in Belorado....many go all out to provide colorful flower power to the front of their homes and business's
Belorado Church under renovation
Check out the 4 huge " Stork Nests" at the  steeple of the Belorado Church.... We hope to catch the Storks at home soon so we can share them with you... It could be a migratory factor

Foot bridge for the Pilgrims and others walking the Camino path in their daily life, historic old bridge in the background for cars

Leaving Belorado..Admired the Stonework that has stood the test of time....at least a few centuries!
On the trail...today the Camino path ran parallel to the highway for miles

A local picking walnuts
A scenic rest stop in the small village of Tosantos
Tosantos...fascinating Hermitage built into the side of the mountain , called Our Lady of the Cliff... has been their since the 14th century. No longer inhabited, much mystery surrounds this cave dwelling.
Easy going for the Pilgrims today... well maintained trails with only a few climbs
Coffee bar dog..friendly and open to pats
In Villambistia
Watched the workers in action renovating this building during our cappuccino break in the Village of Villambistia
Leaving Villambistia on a pretty trail
Our uphill climb ... Most hills are harvested & tilled now and brown
Little wooden bridge and stream as we enter Villafranca Montes de Oca

Pretty Church dating back to the14th Century and located on the grounds where we are staying for the night which is an Alburgue in Villafranca Montes de Oca

Restful garden for Pilgrims on Alburgue grounds
Inside our Alburgue / Hotel. This building  was originally a Pilgrim Hospital in the 14th Century

Awesome preserved buildings & grounds from original Pilgrim Hospital 14th Century
