Leaving Alburgue Jakue we walked through an ancient Roman walled city of Puente La Reina and over an old bridge erected for safe passage of the early Pulgrims over the Arga River. Today we passed many vineyards, olive groves and snacked from the occasional fig tree.
As we were passing through the medieval hilltop village of Cirauqui we admired the incredibly intact Roman road and the many sections of Roman walls still standing. Despite the difficulty of the terrain we finished our 22 k ( 13.4 miles) in awe of the richness of the history of the area and in awe of how our physical acclimation & conditioning for The Camino Trail is reaching new improved levels!
